This dangerous problem surfaced once again last week, when a Winston-Salem man driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested after colliding with a Forsyth County school bus. A situation such as this represents a worst-case scenario for parents and residents of North Carolina, but fortunately, the bus driver and the 12 children on board the bus at the time of the accident did not suffer any injuries from the crash.
The driver in question initially fled the scene of the accident, but was arrested by police a short time later. After submitting to a breathalyzer test, the driver was found to have a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.22%, nearly 3 times the legal limit. The driver has been charged with driving while impaired, driving with a suspended license, fleeing the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed after a collision. The accident took place on Monday, January 5th at the intersection of Thomasville and Louise Roads.
