Pediatric Head Trauma Impacts Thousands of Children Annually

Thousands of children each year sustain pediatric head trauma in car accidents, falls, through sports injuries, and even by child abuse. In fact, severe head injuries are the number one cause of death in young children in the United States, and result in an average of one fatality every hour.

Serious head injuries are devastating and can leave families with huge medical bills, expensive recovery & treatment plans and lots of questions as to how to best help their child. The Childress Institute is a wonderful organization located right here in the Piedmont Triad that is working hard to provide resources and assistance for children and families that have been affected by these serious injuries.

The Childress Institute was founded in 2008 as a research and educational institute for pediatric trauma. The organization focuses exclusively on caring for children that have sustained traumatic injuries that require hospitalization, surgery and rehabilitation.

The Childress Institute has made it their mission to improve care for severely injured children. Click here to learn more about the Childress Institute. By creating education and awareness, we can all do our part to help reduce the impact of pediatric head trauma.

Attorney David Daggett of Daggett Shuler Law and Bob Gfeller, Executive Director & CEO of the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma recently appeared on Triad Today. David and Bob discussed many aspects of pediatric head injuries, including the importance of creating awareness about pediatric head trauma, how these injuries can be prevented, resources for families, and much more.
