Watch Second Harvest Food Bank Director, David Daggett and Griff Shuler on Triad Today This Weekend

Food insecurity is a major issue that impacts a shocking number of local families and communities.

For many families struggling to make ends meet, food is often the first item that gets cut from their budget.

Below are some alarming facts about food insecurity in our region:

  • 1 in 6 residents of Northwest NC is food insecure.
  • This means 1 in 4 children in our area qualify as food insecure.
  • Food Banking began over 35 years ago to prevent food waste and help feed communities.

It is so important for everyone in our community to be charitable, especially during the Holiday Season. Supporting a local Food Bank makes a huge difference to many local families in need.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina is committed to reducing hunger and malnutrition in Northwest North Carolina. Second Harvest works with a network of faith and community-based organizations to help raise awareness about food insecurity and ensure that no one goes hungry.
